Whispers To My Shadows
A series by Varsha Panikar which intimately derives from my strifes with depression, despair and identity, and explores the dual nature and the potential darkness of mental health, in hopes of building understanding and starting conversations around mental health. The series examines themes of darkness and light, acceptance, and the endless quest for truth and authenticity by using poetry that stems from memories and dreams.
Featured as part of “Queer Archives”, alongside Fadesha’s “Burn All The Books That Call You The Unknown” exhibition at Riverside Paramatta, Sydney in March 2020.
'My Body Is Prison', from the same series has also been selected for publishing in the 2020 edition of One Future Collective’s poetry publication (theme ‘identity and community), Queer Poetry Anthology.
